Jothika was born in bombay, she is the daughter of a flim director, chander sadanah and seema sadanah. She has two sisters, nandita(nagma), who is also an actress, radhika(roshini) and a younger brother Rahul. She has a psychology degree from Mithibai college of arts, bombay.
